There is currently no way to delete a taxonomy. What you need to do is mark the taxonomy record as "Not in Use" on the taxonomy edit screen:

(Checked means Not In Use. If mark not in use, apply changes to children is not allowed. |
The system will prompt you to re-assign any content already tagged with this taxonomy to another taxonomy record.
