I was recently asked by a customer if search engines can crawl Community Manager given that it's a "Dynamic" site and content resides in a Database. This is our response...
- Our CMS has 3 built in menu options - panel, tab and flyout - these menus are all CSS based and therefore fully crawlable by search engines i.e. no Javascript/flash barriers
- Community Manager automatically produces XML site maps in accordance with the Google Site Map specification on a scheduled basis allowing us to dynamically inform Google of all public pages that should be crawled
- We support customer defined page titles and metadata for every page
- Our page markup is clean and semantically structured i.e using Heading tags (H1, H2) where applicable
- URLs are presented in a friendly format and can be tailored to suit customers requirements. Furthermore the URLs are presented in their full canonical form e.g http://www.elcom.com.au/Products/Community-Manager/Community-Manager-Summary/default.aspx
These features ensure that Google interprets our content the same way it would interpret a static site. In other words there are no database related search engine barriers in Community Manager.
